Second Chances
Recently, I came across a podcast that featured Elite Staffing Solutions’ owner Chris Rickerson.
It tells his dramatic and compelling story from rough and humble beginnings to business success and lifting others up.
Here is the podcast. Make sure to save it for a time you can listen for a while. It is very interesting.
The short version of the story is that Chris had a very rough start in life. He was involved with drugs, violence, and many unsavory people.
After years in the system, being moved from one boy’s home to another, Chris accumulated many arrests, including felonies.
At the worst of his times, while he was in jail, Chris began to read the bible. Although this was just the beginning of his journey, it was the start of a new chapter.
After getting out of jail, Chris was given a second change with a job carrying bricks. An $8.00 manual labor job that he was extremely grateful for.
The brick job was the second chance Chris needed to get his future started. From this stepping stone, Chris held many other positions dispatching trucks, managing banquets, and eventually he obtained a sales job in staffing.
Although Chris is a hard worker and now has a great relationship with God, He still attributes where he is today partly to that job laying bricks. A tough job where he was given a second chance, then proved his value through hard work.
Now, approximately fifteen-years later, Elite Staffing Solutions has found itself in a position to provide second chances.
In a previous conversation we had, Chris explained that he doesn’t want his entry-level temps to be working for ESS in two-years. His goal is to provide an avenue for temp laborers to get a foot in the door of a new industry or employer. Provide a chance for them to prove theirselves, then move to better permanent positions using the foundation that started with the first job at Elite Staffing Solutions.
Now the fastest growing business in the state of Kansas, Elite Staffing Solutions has found a formula for growth and success where everybody wins-
ESS treats temp employees good and usually pays them better than the competition. As a result, ESS has experienced a much more dependable, high quality of labor. The clients receive better service, and ESS’ staff has less stress. Everybody wins.
